Veneto Beyond Venice:
The Great Wines of Valpolicella

Independent Departure

Located in the northeast corner of Italy, Veneto is known primarily for its capital city-Venice. Certainly the splendor of La Serenissima has enchanted visitors from the world over for centuries; however, there is much more in Veneto to see, sense and taste and “Veneto Beyond Venice” aims to deliver it all- amazing panoramic sights, a rich cultural history, a delectable and varied cuisine, and of course the incredible wines of Valpolicella.

Verona, famous for the tragedy that befell Romeo & Juliet, also boasts a most famous landmark- the Arena, which dates back to the Roman period. The Arena dominates the city center and amazingly, it is still used today to stage some of the most opulent operatic productions. Verona is also strategically located at the threshold of the Valpolicella  wine region of Veneto, where the prized Amarone wine is cultivated, thus making Verona the perfect perch for easy access to the area’s top producers.

Also in proximity are other exquisite towns, each with its own particular style, culture, and flavor that will be explored as we make our way through the Venetian countryside- Vicenza, declared a World Heritage by Unesco in 1994, is characterized  by majestic architecture signed by only one name: Andrea Palladio, the architectural genius whose work has inspired architects the world over, and has left his most significant mark on this city as evidenced as one admires Villa Almerico-Capra also called La Rotonda as well as the Olympic Theatre.

Padova (Padua) is yet another Venetian jewel that features the Chapel of the Scrovegni, a magnificent display of the mastery by Giotto, whose frescoes come alive, amaze and astound.

The food and wines of Veneto, however, will be our major focus and we will be privileged to visit top estates such as Giuseppe Quintarelli, Romano dal Forno, Nicolis, Allegrini, Bussola, Masi, Zenato and more. Some of our meals will be shared in the countryside with winemakers while others will be extraordinary oenogastronomic experiences featuring the best in local specialties perfectly paired with Venetian wines.

Each day will bring a new adventure and a new opportunity to appreciate Veneto Beyond Venice!
